2011年4月21日 · The AV-30 can read the changes in static pretty darn quickly - and they have control over any filtering without relying on the "calibrated leak" technology used by the VSI. The accelerometers read quickly and the gyros are most likely rate gyros to begin with so they will pick up the changes very quickly.

2012年1月26日 · The jury is still out on the AV-30 configured for DG. I am seeing what I consider excessive drift on the DG. There is a new firmware/software update for the AV-30’s that is supposed to improve the DG function. I have obtained the USB to RS232 adapter and DSUB connectors that I need to make a patch cable for updating my AV-30’s.

The AV-30-C installation manual states: If I'm reading this correctly, this says that I cannot replace my S-Tec DG with an AV-30-C, because it drives my S-Tec 60 autopilot in "heading" mode.

2024年11月27日 · Back in 2015 the FAA released PS-ACE-23-08, providing the regulatory framework to replace an existing vacuum-driven gyroscope with an electric/electronic unit (such as an AV-30) as a minor alteration. Only the gyro function was allowed to be replaced, so you couldn't take advantage of the airspeed/altidude indications and remove those gauges.

2013年10月5日 · Just installed my AV-30 magnetometer a few days ago. Retrofit is not hard, but installing with the original device is even easier. I would definitely install a magnetometer with any new AV-30. You can parallel a single AV-MAG to feed 2 displays. For IFR I would probably lean towards a pair of G5 or GI-275 depending on budget.

2023年4月25日 · I concur with the AV-30/AV-MAG experience some have. The one set as DG was terrible before the AV-MAG came out (with version 2.3.9). Precession went away but the AV-30s would keep indicating NOMAG often and was pretty frustrating. With firmware 2.4.1, the NOMAG indication has completely resolved and the DG works great.

2018年4月11日 · The AV-30 without a magnetometer drifts about the same as the mechanical. The big drawback to the AV-30 in DG mode is when the temperature changes significantly from what it was when the DG aligned itself during startup (example: take off in 50* F air then climb to sub-freezing temps), it drifts so bad it becomes useless.
