Asa Waters II (November 2, 1769, in Sutton – December 24, 1841, in Millbury) was an American gunsmith and industrialist. [1] He learned gunsmithing from his father, and earned a patent for turning a gun barrel in a lathe. [1][2] In 1808, with his brother Elijah, he founded an armory, which contracted with the government.

Asa Waters II was born in 1769 in the section of Sutton, Massachusetts which later incorporated as Millbury in 1813. He learned the art of gun-smithing in his father Asa Waters I's shop, and in 1808 the junior Asa and his brother Elijah opened the Waters & Co. Armory along the banks of the Blackstone River, in what is now Millbury Center.

The creation of an AZA Research and Technology Committee promotes the use of good science throughout the zoo and aquarium profession, builds relationships with the scientific community, and facilitates collaboration to identify the best scientific practices to improve wildlife survival.
