Manual Muscle Testing 16 muscle groups/ motions will be tested (not individual muscles). 14 of these are tested bilaterally. Grading will be based on the isometric “Break” test.
This table provides a preferred order to the testing of muscle groups for manual muscle testing. Generally, for bilateral muscle testing, each muscle group is first tested on the right and then the left, prior to proceeding to the next muscle group in the list.

MMT- 8 is a set of 8 designated muscles tested unilaterally (potential score 0-70) or bilaterally (potential score 0-140). Axial (neck flexors) testing is included, so that potential MMT8 score = 80 or 150 . Muscle Groups . Right (0 – 10)

2023年8月28日 · The most commonly accepted method of evaluating muscle strength is the Medical Research Council Manual Muscle Testing scale. This method involves testing key muscles from the upper and lower extremities against the examiner’s resistance and grading the patient’s strength on a 0 to 5 scale accordingly:
Ensure the patient is in a comfortable and appropriate position for testing the specific muscle group. Position the patient and stabilize the body part being tested to ensure accurate results. Ask the patient to perform the movement against your resistance. Assess the strength and compare it with the expected norm for that muscle group.

This document provides a grading scale for assessing muscle strength and range of motion in the upper extremities. It lists specific muscles and the actions they perform, along with tests to evaluate strength from normal to zero on a 5-point scale.
Here's a basic checklist you can use for more accurate manual muscle testing results: Make sure to communicate with the patient all the components of the test and the results you are looking to obtain from the test. Work with the non-dominant (or non-injured) side first and keep consistent when applying pressure.
