2019年11月7日 · It’s not often you find a modified BMW E28 in the wild. This 1986 535i caught our attention with its manual transmission, deep offset BBS wheels, and M60B40 V8 swap. “I really wasn’t in the market for another car,” said Jeremy Whittle, owner of this handsome looking E28, “but I wanted to revisit the E28 chassis.”

Just one glance at his main project, an E30, gives it all away: a turbo 5.3 LS, enormous fenders, wild wheels, and everything in between make for a wonderfully ostentatious machine. His E28 on the other hand, is admittedly a bit more nuanced.

The BMW E28 is the second generation of BMW 5 Series executive cars, [1] which was produced from 1981 to 1988 and replaced the E12 5 Series. Pre-series production began in April 1981 and the car was introduced in the autumn that year.

Riley Stair built this 1986 BMW 535is (E28) several years ago as covered by Stanceworks in 2013. The car originally came with a 3.4 L M30 inline-six. However Riley swapped that for a 4.0 L M60B40 V8 from a BMW 540i (E34). Behind that is a five-speed manual transmission.
