2018年9月14日 · Built between 1931 and 1936, the R2 was the smallest displacement motorcycle ever built by BMW. Powered by a 198cc OHV single, the R2 could hit 59 miles per hour thanks to 6 horsepower – later on (1934) an Amal carb helped bump power to 8 ponies.

This was not their first single - they had introduced the 250cc R39 in 1925. The new model incorporated features found on the twins, including unit construction for the engine, a three speed gearbox and shaft drive, along with a pressed steel duplex frame equipped with similarly constructed forks.
