Built in May 1966 as GN 351 (c/n 31593), it was first renumbered into the BN's passenger series as 9851, and later renumbered into the freight series as 6395, retired in May 1989. It appears that the steam generator is still intact. The frame is stencilled: NORTHTOWN SD40.

BN 6395 New as a passenger loco, GN 321, became BN 9851. When passenger work ended it became BN 6395. Sold to Montana Rail Link as MRL 290.
