I understand that Burlington Northern purchased a trio of standard cab SD60's in the 1980's. At the time they were numbered BN 8300/8301/8302. They wore the traditional BN green with orange/white "tiger stripe" colors on the nose and cab face. What is the current status of these locomotiv

Re: BN 8300, 01, 02 SD60's on Sidney Hill Author: highgreengraphics Comparing the two grades, both were roughly equal, I think to Dalton is a bit longer, but the climb out of Sidney has more curves, and it seemed like a wind tunnel which provided more drag, especially with the steel bathtubs that had the big I-beam braces in a row on the outside.

NS 6810 = former BNSF 8103/BNSF 9203/BN 9203 Retired 06/2019 and sold to K&K Recycling. Unit shipped to Omnisource in Adrian, MI for scrapping. NS 6811 = former BNSF 8104/BNSF 9204/BN 9204 Retired 06/2019 and sold to Progress Rail and shipped to Raceland, KY. NS 6812 = former BNSF 8105/BNSF 9205/BN 9205 Retired 06/2019 and sold to K&K Recycling.

Here is what I could find out about her. She's a SD60 EMD lease unit sporting BN colors with logos painted over and numbered EMD 8301. EMD 8300 to 8302 were demonstrated on the BN between November 1985 and November 1987. Then they must have gone into EMD's lease fleet. I wonder why BN didn't buy them? The second picture is the sign in the first ...
