STP BPDU Guard is a safety mechanism that shuts down ports configured with STP portfast upon receipt of a Bridge Protocol Data Unit. Assuming that all access ports have portfast enabled, this ensures that a loop cannot accidentally be created if an unauthorized switch is added to a topology. What is BPDU Guard?

When you enable BPDU Guard feature on the access-ports, it shuts down the port that receives a BPDU. To bring up a port disabled by BDPU guard, you must remove the device and then restart the port by entering the shut/no shut command described later in this document.
