2024年8月25日 · Die ab 1901 gebaute Baureihe mit drei Treibachsen und einer Laufachse vorne wurde für etliche Länderbahnen hergestellt und war mit über 2.000 Exemplaren eine der meistgebauten Loks Deutschlands. KM 1 bringt die BR 91. in neun Varianten von Epoche I der K.P.E.V über Epoche II und III Ost und West bis hin zur Museumslok des BW Dresden.

Zur Baureihe E 91 gehörten drei verschiedene Bauarten elektrischer Güterzuglokomotiven der Deutschen Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft. Neben den unten beschriebenen beiden Einheitslokomotivbauarten gab es eine ehemals preußische Bauart EG 538abc bis EG 549abc, die ab 1927 die Baureihenbezeichnung E 91.3 trug.
