The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class J39 was a class of medium powered 0-6-0 steam locomotive designed for mixed-traffic work throughout the former LNER system between London and the north of Scotland.

J39 64858 and its brake van are waiting for the road in the platform whilst Class 24 D5109 is arriving on the 11.45 Leeds City to Newcastle via York and Sunderland. 64858 was a Sunderland (52g) loco at this time and had been new to the LNER as 1478 is November 1934 who renumbered her as 4858 in 1946.

On 15th July, 1961, ex-LNER Class J39 0-6-0 No. 64917 stands at Eyemouth Station with a single non-corridor brake composite carriage for Berwick-upon-Tweed. [Gavin W. Morrison] Built: Beyer Peacock. To traffic: May 1937. Withdrawn: July 1961.

2020年12月7日 · The locomotive, I am told, is a J39. It is easy to pinpoint the station's location because of Gunsgreen House (far right) on the harbour quayside. This Georgian residence, built for a notorious smuggler, still stands.
