Epigenetic Regulation of BST-2 Expression Levels and the Effect on HIV …
We investigated the effect of HIV infection on BST-2 mRNA expression levels in PBMCs ex vivo. We found significantly higher levels of BST-2 in HIV negative individuals (n=32, FRESH cohort, black dots) compared to HIV infected late stage antiretroviral (ARV)-naïve individuals (n=21, SK cohort, red dots; p < 0.0001; Figure 1A ).
Multi-functional BST2/tetherin against HIV-1, other viruses
Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 2 (BST2), also known as CD317, HM1.24, or tetherin, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein. Its expression is induced by IFN-I, and it initiates host immune responses by directly trapping enveloped HIV-1 particles onto the cell surface.
BST-2/tetherin: Structural biology, viral antagonism, and immunobiology ...
2013年6月1日 · HIV-2 and Ebola envelope glycoproteins target BST-2 through ectodomain interactions. The interaction with HIV-2 envelope protein (Env) leads to clathrin-dependent internalization via its GYXXϕ endocytic motif, redistributing BST-2 to the trans-golgi organelle (Hauser et al., 2010, Le Tortorec and Neil, 2009).
Enhancing Virion Tethering by BST2 Sensitizes Productively and
2016年11月17日 · We demonstrate that HIV-induced BST2 antagonism effectively attenuates Ab binding and ADCC responses mediated by all classes of NAbs that were tested. Interestingly, IFNα treatment can reverse...
Differential Control of BST2 Restriction and Plasmacytoid …
The data presented in this study show that BST2 antagonists encoded by pandemic HIV-1 group M and endemic HIV-1 group O differentially control the pDC antiviral response despite their shared capacity to counteract BST2 restriction of HIV-1 release.
The viral restriction factor tetherin/BST2 tethers cytokinetic …
2021年5月24日 · Highlights • BST2/tetherin localizes at the surface of cytokinetic midbodies in a variety of cells • BST2 promotes retention and capture of midbody remnants • BST2 tethers midbody remnants to the cell surface via its GPI anchor • This work reveals new parallels between viral biology and cytokinesis
Stimulation of NF-κB Activity by the HIV Restriction Factor BST2
2012年8月22日 · The BST2 antagonist encoded by HIV-1, Vpu, inhibits the activation of NF-κB by BST2 in a manner dependent on its ability to bind the cellular β-TrCP-containing, cullin-1-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complex.
The Interferon-Induced Protein BST-2 Restricts HIV-1 Release and …
2008年4月17日 · We have shown that the HIV-1 Vpu protein downregulates the interferon-induced cellular protein BST-2/HM1.24/CD317 from cell surfaces. BST-2 is a potent inhibitor of HIV-1 virion release, and it appears both sufficient to confer vpu -dependent virion release to HEK293 cells and necessary for a robust vpu phenotype in HeLa cells.
Protective role of BST2 polymorphisms in mother-to-child …
BST-2/Tetherin is a restriction factor that prevents Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) release from infected cells and mediates pro-inflammatory cytokine production. This study investigated the risk conferred by single nucleotide ...
BST-2 diminishes HIV-1 infectivity - PubMed
Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 2 (BST-2, also known as tetherin/CD317/HM1.24) inhibits the release of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and other enveloped viruses by tethering virus particles to the cell surface. In this study, we provide evidence not only that the yield of …
