2017年8月30日 · Hey! I’ve been getting into painting gouache (for colour blocking, not blending/shading), and I’ve used watercolour paper because i find it dries the most solid (canvas doesn’t absorb the paint very well, and it leaves streaks). My issue is, the watercolour paper wrinkles. What kind of surface/material would you recommend?
Suggestions for best ‘good enough’ gouache?
2018年12月2日 · I have to make a plug for this jelly cup gouache from Miya. Just search “Miya gouache” on Amazon and you will find it. A set of 18 30ml cups sells for $18 USD. Other than (probably) not being lightfast, everything else compares very favorably to professional gouache (MG is my normal artist grade).
Best rewettable gouache brand? - WetCanvas: Online Living for …
2012年8月12日 · So I am contemplating doing the same with gouache – getting some tubes, partially or fully transferring them to pans and letting them dry there. But it, of course, requires the paint to be rewettable. The only somewhat comprehensive review of “panned” artistic gouache approach I found is Roz Wound Up by Roz Stendahl.

2020年9月20日 · I have Wilcox’s Yellow and Blue Don’t Make Green, and Edward’s Color book, and just ordered Wilcox’s Artist’s Guide to Selecting Colors. I love gouache, and also am trying my best to make art in medieval style, illumination, etc. Even this early in my journey, I would be horrified to be called a “tube painter”
Brush recommendations for gouache? - WetCanvas: Online Living …
2017年7月13日 · HIMI is designed for gouache and watercolor. Given the watery nature of gouache, the nylon bristles enable me to grab and lay down the paint onto paper with good control. It almost feels like every strand responds to the direction of my stroke. Thanks to the sturdy ferrules, the bristles do not split up while I brush.

2005年9月10日 · Colors usually get darker as they dry. I like to paint on regular watercolor paper, preferably 300 lb, but gessoed panels and canvas boards work well too. The dried paint tends to be brittle, so avoid bending paintings. If anybody has …
Best gouache for thicker layers?? - WetCanvas: Online Living for …
2012年3月2日 · The beauty of gouache is that is highly opaque and has a great matte and velvety finish. These qualities, along with the easy solubility/lifting, makes it definitely not the best medium for glazing or complex layering. It will never behave like oils or even acrylic in reflecting light back through the glazes because of its own nature.
"workable fixative" for gouache? - WetCanvas: Online Living for …
2007年3月26日 · I tried it. It can even be brushed on without disturbing the paint surface. (Alcohol is apparently a poor solvent for dried gouache.) Just use a single very thin application of varnish so that the painting surface does not become too water repellant. Do not apply your new layer of gouache too aggressively, or it can still disturb the underpainting.

2005年5月9日 · I am interested in gouache but have never used it before. Hi John2. I primarily work in gouache. I also paint with acryllic and like the varied characteristics of both. Technically, gouache is an opaque watercolor (very similar to tempra) in that it is made up of pigment and clay (mind you, that is a VERY simple description).
Can you add egg to Gouache? - WetCanvas: Online Living for Artists
2011年3月25日 · I was wondering, can I add egg to gouache?… The honey inside Graham gouache is not the binder. Honey serves as a humectant, meaning it keeps the paint moist longer while you paint. You could add egg (yolk) but there’s no reason to. Gouache already has a binder, gum arabic, the same as in watercolor.
