2005年7月4日 · Re: Holes in Bass Drum head. a hole generally increases the beater definition and attack in the tone. a 4 inch hole is the biggest you should go with a 22inch bass drum, anymore and its pretty senseless to even have a head. smaller the hole, the fatter the tone will sound and will cover the initial attack more.

2011年4月28日 · Shallower bass drums aren't "better", they're just different. I use (and like) all sizes with the 26, and "moving the air" on the 20x26's is not harder than on a shallower shell IMO. OF COURSE, you aren't going to be feathering a big, deep bass drum in a jazz combo. Just like someone wouldn't want a 14x18 on a hard rock gig in a 1500 seat theater.

2010年12月8日 · So if you were feather it, the low rumble would be easier to control. Slam it and the volume is there with the low rumble. Little bass drums I've found have less voices - although I don't do too bad with a 20" bass drum. Finding 30" bass drum heads might be a little difficult, unless you committed to only using white coated marching heads, though.

2019年8月29日 · Overlooking half a century of drum history, I can tell that there wasn't a big turning point in drum industry, where all of a sudden drumsound made a big step like Neil Armstrong on the moon. Good drums will sound good, no matter how deep they are, as well as good drummers sound good on almost everything.

2020年11月8日 · I did a 28x16 once, with a 15x12 rack and a 18x16 floor tom. It was alot of fun. The 28x16 actually fit in the back seat of my quad cab truck so I didn't mind carrying it around. But 28" is a bit much for me, I did much better with a 26x14 bass drum. I have an extra 28" PS3 head if anyone wants to pay for shipping!

2018年2月7日 · But the big issue I have is the lack of another 24"x18" bass drum. I'm currently playing 22"x16" kicks which are Stage 5000 and Power V with old 7000 series hardware. My drums are in custom mirror chrome finish and I just wrapped the bassdrums to match the rest of it. Works fine so far, but I want that BIG bass drum sound.

Lately, however, it has come to my attention (probably much later than it should have) that my 20 inch sounds absolutely massive when miked up. Also, I was taking a test drive of some of the bass drums a local shop rents out and they were absolutely dead with dampening.
