The dressing is commonly impregnated with BIPP (bismuth, iodine, paraffin paste), which is bright yellow in colour and has a sweet, clinical odour. The BIPP dressing is removed as an out-patient after 1 to 2 weeks in one of our ENT Clinic procedure rooms, using micro forceps and the operating microscope.
