2007年5月30日 · It is the most common shot size I load. Bismuth #6 I have found t be less effective than lead #6 on pheasants and ducks, it seems to act more like lead #7.5. In anything smaller, the difference between lead and bismuth is much less noticeable.

2021年3月3日 · Using 1 shot size larger than lead in an unbuffered Bismuth load is OK. Using one shot size larger than lead in a buffered Bismuth load, for most hunting situations, makes Bismuth shine. IMHO, buffered Bismuth loads are the way to go and to really get the most out of Bismuth. The extra effort to buffer Bismuth is well worth the time spent.

2024年9月13日 · I second rotometals and Ballistic Products as the two best sources for bismuth shot. I have used the SP20 7/8 oz load you mentioned in your post. It patterns well for me, and works well with small shot (#6-#7 bismuth) for smaller birds (quail and ruffed grouse). I like to shoot at least an ounce at Pheasants personally (flushing dog), #4-#5.

I plan on loading 2 3/4 inch #5's 1 1/4oz with buffer for my duck hunting loads. Is the tin plated shot that much better? Getting some manuals/brochures but thought I would ask for you guy's real world experience.

Unfortunately you are correct about dearth of field wads from US manufacturers; however, the TUWSBL2024 non-tox field wad is still being made and it's a good one.

It also will exceed the shot cup of the sg20l if that is a concern. I would much rather use a published load for bismuth but I only have winchester, challenger, and fiocchi hulls ...
