By 1930 the Budd Company was a national leader in construction of railway vehicles containing considerable amounts of stainless steel. Anxious to expand this expertise into other areas, company founder Edward G. Budd hired Enea Bossi to design and construct a flying boat of shot-welded stainless steel sheet and strip.
The Budd BB1 Pioneer Aircraft - The Franklin Institute
A signature artifact of The Franklin Institute, the Budd BB1 Pioneer, the world’s first stainless steel airplane, has been on display in front of the museum since 1935. Only the Baldwin 60,000 locomotive, found in the museum’s Train Factory exhibit, has been on continuous exhibition for a longer period of time.

2013年7月18日 · Budd BB-1 Pioneer flying boat was the world's first stainless steel airplane, built by the Edward F. Budd Manufacturing Corporation. The prototype BB-1 first flew in 1931. Flight tests showed it to be typical in performance and challenging to handle on the water. The aircraft logged about 1,000 flying hours on tours of the US and Italy. The BB-1 did not go into production.

Budd Manufacturing Company in 1930 with the purpose of building aircraft of all-welded stainless steel construction, which would make them lighter, stronger and safer. This was a first in America, and when it came out in 1931 the BB-1 Pioneer amphibian was highly publicized as a result.

In November 1660, a dramatic event took place in Stockholm's southern archipelago. Resande Man, one of the Swedish navy's smaller warships, was on its way to Poland on an important diplomatic mission. The ship sank and 38 people lost their lives. On board were Ambassador Count Christoph Carl von Schlippenbach and his delegation.
