GX-1 (Greyhound Experimental #1 – The Highway Traveler) was the first post-WWII concept bus from Greyhound that evolved into the Scenicruiser PD-4501. Known as the “Greyhound Experimental #1” or GX-1, Orville Caesar's postwar bus was designed by him and by Raymond Loewy, a multi-year activity beginning in the mid- to late-1930s.

The GMC PD-4501 Scenicruiser, manufactured by General Motors (GM) for Greyhound Lines, Inc., was a three-axle monocoque two-level coach that Greyhound used from July 1954 into the mid-1970s. 1001 were made between 1954 and 1956.

The GM New Look bus is a municipal transit bus that was introduced in 1959 by the Truck and Coach Division of General Motors to replace the company's previous coach, retroactively known as the GM "old-look" transit bus.

In 1987 GM sold the transit bus division to Motor Coach Industries (MCI). By 1993 the bus division changed hands again, this time going to NovaBus . During the two transitions the Classic continued to be built until NovaBus discontinued the model in 1997, as most agencies preferred the new low-floor LFS design.

During the 1930s, GMC made everything from 1/2-ton pickups to 10-ton trucks to chassis for truck trailers. Many bus lines bought GMC-made Yellow parlor coaches. These were top of the line buses designed specifically for over-the-road passenger-coach use.
