Railway Ride 50/100KM 20th April to aid BWLR with the restoration of Garforth station footbridge 2025 is the 200 th anniversary of the first passenger train, it also marks the 50 th year of BWLR. To mark this occasion on Easter Sunday 20 th April we are organising a fundraising cycle ride from the railway.

Brief history of the BWLR – Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway
Starting in 1975 it was built from scratch by a group of friends and now blends well into the North Kent Downs. Initially a small industrial diesel locomotive was purchased. This was soon joined by others, but it was not until 1979 that ‘Bronhilde’, our first steam engine arrived.

Join us from 10am, we’re running steam engine passenger rides, the engine shed is open exhibiting all our locos, vehicles and engines as well as the large model railway. In the main field we have a good selection of visiting exhibits to commemorate the day, featuring a ceremony to mark the occasion.
