A FAB adquiriu em 2005 um lote de 12 cargueiros EADS-CASA C-295, que irão receber a designação de C-105 Amazonas. Estes modernos aviões, considerados os melhores em sua categoria, irão substituir os C-115 Buffalo em sua atuação na região amazônica.

The EADS CASA C-295 is a tactical transport aircraft, designed for the movement of personnel and cargo within military conditions. Accordingly, it can be operated from austere airstrips with minimal reliance on ground support infrastructures; it can reportedly be operated on soft ground without major issues even when heavily loaded.
