Have you seen the new Rapido C30-7??? Last week I picked up a couple of Rapido C30-7's from the local pusher and I've compiled some thoughts... I will only be commenting on the CSX version because I haven't even opened the box on the other one. First look is Rapido did a really nice job on these and this is without even powering the locomotive up.

Air intakes are different under the radiator overhang, battery boxes are longer on C30-7, and the long hood width change near the radiators is farther forward on the C30-7. Look at photos to see what I'm talking about.

So, the C30-7 really is grown out the U30C rather than the U33C; the whole Dash-7 line was GE's first major attempt to re-engineer their locomotives to close the maintainability and reliability gap with EMD.

Just remembered another potential C30-7 survivor, CLCX #7025 which is the former Nashville & Eastern 7025, previously CSX. It was painted in a simple black dip paint job with a small logo and name "Charah" on the hood.

On the C30-7's fold the mirror behind the cab window back flat against the side of the cab. It would block the view of the forward mirror if left out like that.
