This model is a variation of the C40-8W with the same 16-cylinder engine uprated to 4,135 hp (3,080 kW). A total of 154 C41-8Ws were produced between 1993 and 1994 for both UP and ATSF. UP 9406-9480 were delivered in 1990 and 1991 as 4000 horsepower, model C40-8W; upgraded in September 1993 to 4135 horsepower (model C41-8W) by adjusting the fuel rack settings.
