USCGC SPENCER (WMEC 905) is one of six 270-foot Medium Endurance Cutters stationed out of Base Portsmouth, Virginia. SPENCER executes missions to include Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, Living Marine Resource Protection, Homeland Security, and Defense Operations, International training, and humanitarian operations.

Named for John Canfield Spencer, United States Secretary of the Treasury from 1843 to 1844 under President John Tyler, she was and launched on 17 April 1984 and commissioned into service on 28 June 1986.

USCGC Spencer (WPG-36) was a Treasury-class cutter of the United States Coast Guard that served between 1937 and 1974, seeing action during World War II. [1] She was named for U.S. Treasury Secretary John Canfield Spencer.
