GFDL’s CM2.1 climate model, incorporating 1 o ocean and 2 o atmospheric components, was developed to produce output and science for the IPCC 4th assessment report. When evaluated over a broad suite of metrics this model was found to produce a high quality simulation of the present-day climate and its variability.

2006年3月1日 · Two versions of the coupled model are described, called CM2.0 and CM2.1. The versions differ primarily in the dynamical core used in the atmospheric component, along with the cloud tuning and some details of the land and ocean components.

The CM2.5 model is a descendant of the GFDL CM2.1 model that incorporates higher spatial resolution and a significantly improved land model (LM3). As a result of these enhancements, the CM2.5 model has a significantly improved simulation of many aspects of climate, particularly hydroclimate over continental regions and aspects of ocean circulation.
