Canadian National 6218 is a 4-8-4 U-2-g Northern type locomotive built by the Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) in 1942 for the Canadian National Railway. It became famous after it was brought back by CN for their Steam Excursion Program from 1964 to 1971.

CN 6218 is a class U2g 4-8-4 steam locomotive, built in 1942. After its regular service on CN, it was revived for use in excursion trips around Ontario until its final retirement in 1971. It went to the Fort Erie railway museum in 1973 and remains there (more information on the TRHA site ).

2024年2月8日 · The Canadian National Railroad's last operating steamer, a giant 4-8-4 Northern (engine no. 6218), pulled a special 16-car train from Detroit's Brush Street Depot to Port Huron in 1966. The Michigan Railroad Club says that "was positively the last time" this steam locomotive will ever operate outside Canada.

Susequently, 6167 operated in Ontario, 6153 in Quebec, and 6218 was the last CN steam locomotive overhauled at Stratford, making her debut in the fall of 1964. I was a few months old.
