We have an Atlas CNJ RS-1 from years back ... hardly a difference from these Railkings. The Atlas trucks may be a bit nicer, roller bearings. And, there is a chain hanging across one of the trucks to the brake cylinder.

CNJ leased units 20-29 from N&W. Only CNJ # 27 was renumbered and repainted. Due to legal complications of the lease CNJ was required to restore CNJ # 27 to its original N&W livery and number(3715).

The CNJ RS-1’s were kind of fancy as they had roller bearings and m.u. capacity. Features not seen on most railroads RS-1’s. I know they used their F units for trade in credit on the SD35’s.

2 天之前 · 1) Besides LIRR, does anyone know of other railroads that used the Alco RSs on commuter trains? Here are the only ones I know for sure: RS1: NYSW, CNJ, Chicago & Western Indiana RS2 or RS3: NYC, CNJ, Erie and post-merger EL, B&M If I recall correctly, the DL&W RS3s lacked steam generators.

Bernet's "Jersey Central Diesels" is the most detailed exposition of the diesels of the CNJ, with diagrams, statistics and photos. It has recently been joined by "Jersey Central Power In Color Volume 1: #50-1709".

Atlas refines the RS-1 for a 2003 release that included, "separately applied wire grab irons; coupler cut bars, train line hoses, and lift rings; improved painting and printing; improved detail on radiator section; revised roof detail on long hood." This represents the RS-1 as it appears currently when offered by Atlas.
