Screen burn-in, image burn-in, ghost image, or shadow image, is a permanent discoloration of areas on an electronic visual display such as a cathode-ray tube (CRT) in an older computer monitor or television set. It is caused by cumulative non-uniform use of the screen.

In short: It would probably take many months of a high contrast image to notice even the slightest damage on a PVM, and likely years before it would become a noticeable problem. This is mostly due to their power efficiency in vivid colour production.

2022年6月15日 · It's rare under normal usage. I had some CRT's I used for years, never saw any burn in in any of them. However, I remember seeing a CRT monitor used in an arcade Pac-Man machine that had the maze burned in. It's high contrast and bright static images showing for very long times that are the issue.

The only CRTs that exhibit noticeable burn in are those that are left on indefinitely with the same image on the screen. There are pictures of a Pac Man arcade cabinet with the maze burned into the screen, for example. One of my smaller 8" PVMs has minor burn-in from the videotape recorder used with it.

These leaks occur between the CRT pins on the CRT socket and are caused by external contamination on the socket between the pins or by insufficient RTV. Solution:
