The EMD GP15 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between June 1976 and April 1983. Intended to provide an alternative to the rebuilding programs that many railroads were applying to their early road switchers, it is generally employed as a yard switcher or light road switcher.

1540, Class GP15-1, was built in October 1979, #787249-45, FN 787249-45, as Conrail 1629, Class GP15-1. It later became CSX 1540, Class GP15-1, in 1999 and sold it to Larry's Truck Electric on December 21, 2017.

That has left the GP15’s, which fetch good money on the secondary marketplace, free to be sold.

The GP15-1 and GP15T were two very different units that were only common in that they were EMD built units with 1500 hp. The GP15-1 was basically a rebuilt 12-cylinder, non-turbo unit utilizing older (GP7/9, thus "-1") components that were built 1976-1979 (with 30 later done with AC alternators for MP in 1982).
