2025年1月1日 · The U36C was the most powerful standard line, six-axle Universal model General Electric produced. While the U50 and U50C were, indeed, higher horsepower variants these were one-off designs built almost exclusively for Union Pacific.

2015年8月9日 · The CSX U36Cs have an unusual story. They started life as seven units on the Clinchfield. This was a big high horsepower purchase for the Clinchfield. Clinchfield had been practically an all EMD road. Thus for various reasons, the Clinchfield folks (engineers, shop people etc) HATED them. So they went to Seaboard Coast Line and explored a trade.

Offering an additional 300 horsepower, these locomotives found their way onto everything from coal drags to hot intermodal trains in the 1970s and 1980s.
