USS Hornet (CV/CVA/CVS-12) is an Essex-class aircraft carrier built for the United States Navy (USN) during World War II. Completed in late 1943, the ship was assigned to the Fast Carrier Task Force (variously designated as Task Force 38 or 58) in the Pacific Ocean, the navy's primary offensive force during the Pacific War.

USS Hornet (CV-12) was commissioned in November 1943. She entered the Pacific War in March 1944 and was part of the famous US Navy Fast Carrier Task Forces that pounded enemy installations in the western Pacific supported numerous island invasions. She was awarded 11 battle stars for her exemplary WWII service.

2025年2月9日 · Redesignated as an "attack carrier" (CVA-12) on 1 October 1952. Recommissioned on 11 September 1953. Modernized again (SCB-125) in 1956, at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. In mid-1958, Hornet was converted to an antisubmarine warfare support carrier in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and redesignated CVS-12.
