The factory fill is ridiculously expensive, 2-3x as much per quart as Castrol, Mag1, Lucas, Valvoline, etc. Amazon reviews for Idemitsu CVT fluid claim it's Nissan NS-2 factory fill in a different package, but I'm not one to blindly trust an anonymous Amazon review.

Furthermore, there's almost no clutch material in it to make "ATF soup" like a conventional transmission, so the risk of fresh fluid causing a fouled Valve Body is near zero.

2004年8月30日 · Re-fill the fluid with a driveline filler, but be sure to dedicate a unit just for CVT Fluid. I have been told that any contamination with non-CVT transmission fluids can be problematic. So, I purchased a new one, an Assenmacher #ATFBasic. The angled adapter works fine. Add 4 quarts thru the fill hole with the engine off.

2019年12月5日 · The CVT service is due in my wife's Outlander and the dealership advise me that the 2016 Outlander does not have a serviceable filter. The CVT service consist of a drain & fill. I'm not to thrilled to pay them $280 for something I can do for easily myself with $60 worth of fluid. The Valvoline CVT Fluid states it's compatible with Mitsubishi J1/J4.

2011年12月28日 · I have a Nissan w/CVT and they call for the NS3 CVT fluid, not the NS2 they use in some of their other CVT's. I was able to find alternative NS3 fluids at Rock Auto at about half the price.. but in the end it is going to depend on the spec Subaru calls for...

2023年8月17日 · I considered Valvoline's CVT fluid but decided I didn't want to experiment with it at the point just to save a few bucks. $80 for four quarts of Honda fluid is a bit steep. I think the days of a high-quality universal fluid like MaxLife ATF for Dexron III applications are over.

2014年2月25日 · That Castrol cvt oil is likely using viscosity index improvers to cover for a likely lower quality base oil. The same for many lower end 5w30 oils. They are perfectly fine and I use many of the cheap synthetic blends. This individual wanted a clear answer on which oil was the better oil and I gave my 2¢. Redline cvt fluid is superior to Castrol.

2019年1月26日 · I changed the cvt fluid on my Suzuki at about 40K miles/65K kilometers. It was very dirty. I plan on doing it again in 30K miles. The cost of fluid is minimal compared to the expense of replacing a CVT. I used Valvoline fluid which is a compatible replacement for the JATCO transmission. Toyota might require their own fluid.
