Super Saiyan 4 is the most unique of the traditional Super Saiyan line and dramatically changes a Saiyan's appearance. Most notably, Son Gokū gained crimson-magenta fur across his upper torso, leaving only parts of his chest and below his wrists exposed.

It is also worth mentioning that Dragon Ball Super, which is the canon continuation, has already contracted the events of Dragon Ball GT.

Super and GT and the films are all fun and good/great, and it's better to have DB content than not, but the idea of 'canon' was thrown out the window given the varied interpretations and studio/Toyotaro additions to 'vague' notes written by Toriyama.
