2008年4月27日 · I have a 3208 CAT in a 1987 Ford 8000 tandem truck. This problem first occured a couple weeks ago. Shut the truck off and went to start it again, and all it did was turn over. Frustrated I started wigglying wires and mving stuff thinking it was an electrical issue.

Cat says the 3208 goes about 30,000 gallons before rebuild. That is hard to figure on a pleasure boat. Headgaskets are a weak point. When they go you know; but there is little warning. Meaning a survey will not turn up a near future problem. They start easy even in very cold weather. The way Cats are usually rebuilt is the bore and dry sleeve.

2005年2月28日 · The best ratings were the 210 HP natually aspirated and the 260 HP turbo non aftercooled version. Cat quit making the 3208 because it was too "dirty" in the emissions department, not because it wasn't a good engine for them. Now, to answer the question about how much power you can get out of one, Cat has pulled 435 HP out of that engine easily.

2007年5月29日 · From what I was told, the 3208 Cat is a medium duty truck engine. I was told you would be lucky if you got 150,000 out of it. The MAX on road HP I have seen is 300HP and that is a turbo/intercooled engine. As I have stated in past posts on 3208's, most around here are in C series tandem garbage trucks with automatic tranies.
