Examples of substituted terephthalate as active sites and the synergism between acid and basic sites in close proximity in UiO-66 with substituents at the linker acting are also presented.

UiO-66 was modified by; i) partial linker substitution, ii) particle size modulation and iii) linker defects. We studied the effect of crystallinity and functional groups on the glucose conversion and product yields.

The present Review covers the use of UiO‐66 as solid catalyst to promote organic reactions in the liquid phase, classified according to the role of UiO‐66 as active component or as support of nanoparticles embedded within the internal pores.
