Char-Em ISD provides a number of resources for parents and educators that don’t fall under a specific category or department, but which are important to provide to the public. You’ll find those documents and links on this page; review the blue navigation menu at left to find the most commonly accessed resources.

Every program and service offered by Char-Em ISD has one goal at the fore: How can we meet the needs of our children and families throughout Northwest Michigan, in the classroom and in their communities.

Char-Em ISD provides valuable assistance to our local school districts that in turn support students and families. While many of the ISD’s programs serve students directly on a day-to-day business, others work “behind the scenes” to support learning.

Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District provides programs and related services to over 1,300 students with disabilities. Special education staff provide services in various locations throughout the Char-Em ISD.

Each year, the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce compiles a booklet of reports from agencies and organizations around Northwest Michigan, including Char-Em ISD. The ISD’s 2024 State of the Community Report can be found below.

Char-Em ISD serves local school districts within Charlevoix, Emmet and northern Antrim counties. The districts within our service area cover approximately 1,000 square miles and collectively operate 11 local public schools, three public school academies and five private schools, serving approximately 8,000 students.
