The program also runs using open-source software. To evaluate a wide range of ciliary beat frequencies we studied both human respiratory cilia and ependymal cilia from the rat brain.

2024年4月1日 · In this study we propose DeepCilia, a Ciliary beating frequency (CBF) decay estimation engine that autonomously detects ciliated strias using YOLOv8 to perform the detection task and is able to produce accurate estimations even for low FPS videos, by using the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT).

One‐second movies of cilia were collected at >600 fps from mouse airways and ependyma at room‐temperature or 37°C. Movies were then down‐sampled to 30–300 fps. CBF was quantified for identical cilia at different framerates by either manual counting or automated MATLAB script.

Here, we study motile cilia and CSF flow in the brain ventricles of larval zebrafish. We identified that different populations of motile ciliated cells are spatially organized and generate a directional CSF flow powered by ciliary beating.

In this chapter, we describe methods to measure the permeability barrier of the ciliary gate by microinjection of fluorescent proteins and dextrans of different sizes into ciliated cells. We also describe a fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) assay to measure the entry of ciliary proteins into the ciliary compartment.
