Instead of continuing south (railroad “east”) to Mayfair Tower (junction with CNW’s Harvard subdivision), the train backed north (railroad “west”)–with red Mars light operating–to Valley Junction where it presumably continued its journey eastward on the New Line subdivision.

CNW 402 leads the circus train down from Baraboo. I had just hired on a month earlier and was able to climb aboard the F unit while the station stop occured. This would be my first and only time in the cab of a CNW F unit. (scan from print)

C-425 #402 sits under the sand tower at the small engine facility in Winona, MN on 8/7/1979. I would chase this lashup as far as Rochester before giving up the chase at the driveway of the old family farm.

These slies are about 40 to 50 years old and for most of them the color is really poor. So I do try to fix the colors as best I can. I'd sure like to hear other's comments. I certainly want to make the colors as true as possible.
