2014年2月25日 · FT-IR, XRD, EDX and VSM results suggest the as-prepared Co 3 O 4 nanoplates are pure and single-phase with a weak ferromagnetic behavior. The optical spectrum indicated two direct band gaps at 2.18 and 3.55 eV with a blue shift compared with the bulk samples. The plausible pathway for the formation of Co 3 O 4 nanoplates was also proposed.

The structural properties of the synthesized Co3 O 4 nanoparticles were studied using × ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD results confirm the crystalline nature of the nanoparticles.

Mesoporous cobalt oxide calcined at 350 °C exhibited the best oxidation activity and can achieve complete oxidization (100% conversion) of CO to CO2 at −60 °C under normal conditions (∼3–10 ppm of H2O) and at 80 °C under moisture rich conditions (∼3% H2O). The commercial Co3O4 reached 100% conversion at 220 °C under normal conditions.
