Going over pencil won’t damage your Copic Marker. Just as you are trapping and staining your image by redistributing the graphite when you combine Copic Markers and pencil lines, so the graphite can also discolour the nib of your Copic Marker. This does not damage your pen, nor will it compromise future drawings.

If the marker is lightly colored you might see a pencil stain on the nib but you should be able to clean it off by writing on a piece of scratch paper.

You can draw with office, school, or artist grade graphite pencils and then color the project with Copic as long as you take special precautions. Technically Copic Markers are not compatible with pencil. Graphite will stain your Copic nibs but the staining is more cosmetic than dangerous.

2018年5月6日 · What is the best process to colour using these markers that won't destroy the nibs. Can I colour over my sketch then apply the fine liner to the outline after? What works best? Best to use your fineliner first (assuming it's copic safe) and erase your pencil lines before colouring, as pencil lines won't lift once you've gone over them with copics.

Smooth paper is less tooth for color pencil pigment, but you can add a color pencil texturing agent to give the paper tooth - just make sure to not add so much it changes the colors of the Copic underneath. Also, in terms of color pencils, Prismacolors are the cheaper brand. Not bad, but not the best.
