Dec 21, 2017 · For those who don’t know, Copperlode Dam (Lake Morris) sits amongst the Whitfield Range up behind Cairns, it is the major water supply for Cairns. For the most part it was closed of to recreational use, no fishing, swimming or boating.

We offer fully guided SUP and kayak tours, unguided kayak hire and guided fishing charters. Fish Stocking: Copperlode Dam has been stocked with bony bream, barramundi, sooty grunter, archerfish, sleepy cod, eel-tailed catfish and mangrove jack. the dam was essentially used by DPI as a trial fish stocking pond.

COPPERLODE Dam has seen its first barramundi in over 20 years after a local charter operator won state approval to stock the dam with fingerlings and guide clients onto the fish. It is hoped that the stocking of barramundi into Copperlode Dam, also known as Lake Morris, could turn it into a year-round sportfishing destination.

Dec 31, 2016 · You can fish, kayak and SUP on Lake Morris but you must book through Copperlode Dam Fish and Kayak. These vessels are the only ones that are allowed to be used on Lake Morris due to strict water regulations from the Cairns Council.
