The Cord 810, and later Cord 812, was a luxury automobile produced by the Cord Automobile division of the Auburn Automobile Company in 1936 and 1937. It was the first American-designed and built front wheel drive car with independent front suspension .

The Cord 812 was introduced in 1937. The 812 was largely an updated 810, and was available with the same convertible, sedan, and phaeton body styles and the same 4.7L V8 engine as its predecessor. The 812 saw the addition of a notable 170 hp supercharged version that featured distinctive chromed external exhaust pipes.

Cord re-designated the 810 as the 812 for 1937 when custom sedans on a longer wheelbase joined the range. Supercharging was made available on the 1937 812 model, and these are distinguished from the normally aspirated 812s by the chrome-plated external exhaust pipes protruding from the hood.

This 1937 Cord 812 phaeton is said to have undergone a refurbishment in the 2000s before being purchased by its current owner in 2016. Finished in yellow over dark green leather, the car is powered by a 289ci Lycoming V8 that drives the front wheels via a vacuum-operated four-speed preselector transaxle.

The Model 812, known as a baby Duesenburg, could achieve a top speed of 112 mph with 0-60 acceleration in 13.2 seconds. This was the first car to have retractable head lights and a semi-automatic shift.

The depression finally took a toll on the Cord company and 1937 would be its final year. The Sportsman was the two seat roadster version of the 810 and 812, only 67 812 Sportsmans were ever produced.
