Creek Party was the earliest known sustained overseas volunteer rotation by a Reserve component of the U.S. armed forces to support a real-world military mission in a situation short of war.

2017年10月19日 · Operation Creek Party was the first known practical application of the ‘Total Force’ concept, which sought to utilize guard and reserve personnel to augment active duty in peacetime missions and reduce reliance on the military draft. The mission involved 11 ANG units, including the 134th Air Refueling Group.

During Operation Creek Party, which started in 1967 and lasted for 10 years, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve tankers supported active duty USAF and NATO units in Europe.

The KC-97 would take the Wing back to Europe, refueling USAFE aircraft under operation CREEK PARTY from 1967 to 1976. Some 600 trans-Atlantic flights were flown and 150 million pounds of fuel off-loaded to USAFE and NATO aircraft.

In 1966 the squadron began a rotational deployment to Ramstein Air Base in support of Operation Creek Party which provided USAFE an air refueling capability. The Creek Party deployment rotations lasted until 1976, and over the decade the 151st saw millions of pounds of jet fuel off-loaded and millions of miles flown, all accident free.

Under General Pesch's leadership and vision, Operation Creek Party was one example of the professional combat ready force the Air National Guard demonstrated in their ability to deploy entire units across the Atlantic without incident or accident.
