Solving the 4x4 Rubik's Cube is not too much harder than solving a 3x3. The concepts of the steps are as follows: Turn only the outer layers, and solve it like a 3x3! In this video I teach the Yau Method, which roughly follows this outline. The Yau method is the most popular 4x4 method and was used to set the current world record.

OLL parity specifically occurs because two adjacent edge pieces are flipped, but generally you can't recognize it until you are at the OLL stage of solving.

Big cubes (4x4+) are rather simple for efficiency compared to 3x3. The most important thing is turning slow enough to keep looking ahead, but also at a decently fast rate to have fast solves. Especially during steps that are heavy on look ahead (all the edge pairing steps), you should turn slightly slower to reduce pausing.

It is possible to make 2 look PLL using only 6 algorithms, you can learn it in the speedsolving guide here. The algorithms are divided into groups based on their effect on the Rubik's cube (corners only, edge only, etc...). The PLL algorithms are very important to master and expertize in.

2017年8月25日 · PLL parity is when you reach the PLL stage of a 4x4 and find that you have a case that isn’t one of the 21 cases that you know for 3x3 PLL. This comes about because you have an odd number of two-piece swaps. This is caused because the dedges on a 4x4 are actually two pieces which can be swapped in different ways to a 3x3 edge piece.
