DR-Baureihe V 100 – Wikipedia
Als Baureihe V 100 (ab 1970: 110) bezeichnete die Deutsche Reichsbahn vierachsige Strecken diesellokomotiven für den mittleren Dienst. Das Mitte der 1950er Jahre von der Deutschen Reichsbahn (DR) aufgestellte Diesellokprogramm zur Ablösung der Dampflokomotiven enthielt die Baureihen V 15, V 60, V 180 und V 240.

Insgesamt wurden 43 Lokomotiven der Baureihe 201 zur Baureihe 298 umgebaut. Ab 1997 erfolgt ein weiterer Umbau, dabei werden die 298er mit Funkfernsteuerung und automatischer Rangierkupplung ausgerüstet.
