2006年5月22日 · Anybody did an A-B comparison between the DBX and THAT 2150 VCA's in the Gyraf SSL clone? I tested them both today, the THAT seems to be more agressive to me. I like them better on drums or something.

The dbx 2150 integrated circuit VCA is a current in, current out device with a voltage sensitive control port. Both positive and negative control ports are available. The recommended supply voltage is ±12V.

These IC VCAs, the dbx 2150 et al, were current-in/current-out devices, and it soon became obvious that they could be paralleled. The open frame modular 202 series from dbx (and subsequently THAT Corporation), were built in this manner, and exhibited superior noise performance compared to the older varieties.

2005年5月4日 · the original DBX2150 chips dosen't seem to be as well manufactured as the (later) THAT2150's. e.g. untrimmed, the THAT behaves much better in general, pointing to closer chip production tolerances. There's definitely no reason to go "vintage" here.. Anybody interested in a D-B-X 2001 hack?

2014年11月28日 · Can anybody post the steps to upgrade the VCA? I assume there is some small changes involved, few resistor values etc. I just want to try this on a few channels. The 2150/2151 is great and crunchy. Wonderful for dirty drum parallel-chains etc. - I want to hear how the cleaner 2180/2181 changes the characteristics of the channel dynamics.
