The DL650 platform just needed two performance oriented motorcycling hermits to stumble upon the handling issue, which no one else cared about.

Dec 10, 2009 · Get the DL650 for the Eastern TAT, which I completed a few weeks ago. Then get the DR650 for the Western TAT. Yeah, probably not practical if you want to do the whole thing in one go. But you are searching for the almightly holy grail of adventure bikes. Seriously though, I have heard of DR650's doing the whole thing, but never a DL650.

Sep 28, 2020 · Ultimately, all of the extras you get with the DL650 Touring model just out classes the Honda CBX. Getting a left over model that is $1,500 off helps too!! For 2020, the side bags are much better, and the MSRP is back over $10,000 again.

Jul 3, 2004 · Preson, thanks for the honest answer, you will have no problem selling or trading your bike if that the way you want to go. ride one of the large bikes first, the problem with all is weight, all fuelled will be 500-550lbs. a quarter ton of swing bike is a handful off road, very hard for any of them to compete with a DR650 due to its light weight.

Feb 17, 2005 · How much power is "enough" power - though I have a DL-1000, by all reports the DL650 is just fine functionally with a passenger. What is your idea of "off pavement"? On dirt ROADS a V-Strom is a fine bike, but they are pretty useless on actual trail (exploits of people like Burren Rider notwithstanding).

Dec 27, 2007 · If I had to, it would probably be a K9 DL650 in the new orange color for me. The DL1000 would probably be better if you were into LONG range touring on the freeways. Fuel mileage used to be a concern, but since the price of fuel has dropped 50% lately, higher mpg might not be as great of a concern as it used to be.
