2012年4月21日 · DP 40 is metal etching epoxy primer. DESIGNED to be sprayed on bare metal. It contains lead. If you don't want the lead, which is a little scary to sand because it will create lead dust, use DP 40LF. The LF means lead free. I enclosed a tech sheet on DP90LF. It is designed to be sprayed on more than just bare metal.

2021年8月10日 · You don't need to only use DP over DP, once sanded thuroly all types of modern primer can be used.. Depending on the build of DP I sand with 180 or 120 grit then do filler work and prime with a high build urathane. I've gotten away from DP on painted surfaces on the body or finished frames etc. and use a epoxy that can be block sanded.

2022年12月20日 · I like Hirsch Miracle paint ( moisture cure urethane similar to POR 15 ) . It is light sensitive but on suspension components that hasn't been an issue. On my avatar I used PPG DP 40 primer and top coated with PPG Pithane; it's made for covering heavy steel structures continuously out doors. It's really durable but over kill.

2006年6月5日 · DP(LF) 40-50 etc are NOT what they used to be 20 to 30 years ago (LF means lead free--they did NOT used to have that suffix.) They don't have the same ingredients or corrosion protection or film build they once had. If you are an epoxy believer, do some searching for a higher solids primer that will give a better bare metal corrosion protection ...

2016年9月24日 · PPG rep "claims" it is the old style DP it mixes 1:1 like the old DP did and lays down smooth like paint not grainy like most others do and I also have had very good results with the shopline epoxy make sure when you ask paint questions, you ask a trained rep and not just some guy behind the counter

2021年1月17日 · Yes on corvettes. But not on raw glass without gel coat. Your ok as long as the gel coat is good. Then sand and we used DP-40, that was before DP-90. It had a 30 min incubation time before you shot it. Made sure to wash it down to nuetralize the stripper. Block it good. Couple coats of DP then wait 30 minutes.

2010年7月19日 · We've been using the DP series on bare metal for 30+ years. One thing that we have always done is to use Metal Prep/Galva Prep on it. This is an etching/phosphatising step that makes the primer stick extremely well. The no lead is an issue now but it still works great.

2010年10月13日 · I scored a pair of Weber 40 DCOE side draft carbs for my latest project, a 1.8 SOHC for a huckster. I'm thinking that this maybe way to much carburetor for the engine. I have an Offy DP and Weber 32 two barrel on the shelf. The engine is .040 over, Crower Cam, ported, balanced and a lightened flywheel. Rear gears are 3:73 with a ZF 4 speed.

2013年9月8日 · Note that the 401 hardener has to be added at least 1/2 hour before it can be sprayed. The 402 does not have an induction time required and can be sprayed right away.
