Nier is the titular protagonist of the original western release of NieR, also known as NieR Gestalt. He is a middle-aged man in search of a cure for the Black Scrawl, a disease which has afflicted his daughter, Yonah.

I also think that Brother Nier works great as an older brother for Emil, a love interest for Kaine and his character also meshes super well with the story.

Replicant never made it overseas and we will only be getting brother nier now with the remaster. Secondly, he provides an interesting novelty and resonates more with western cultural ideals.
