In supplements, it may help improve performance and increase weight loss. But, you’re not likely to see “DMHA” on the label of your favorite pre workout or fat burner.

Octodrine, also known as dimethylhexylamine (DMHA) and sold under the brand name Vaporpac among others, is a sympathomimetic and stimulant medication that was formerly used in the treatment of hypotension (low blood pressure). [4][5] It has been studied in a dozen animal studies from the 1940s through the 1970s.

DMHA is used most often in pre-workout, weight-loss, and “fat burner” (thermogenic) dietary supplement products because of its supposed benefits to suppress appetite and enhance energy. It has also been claimed to enhance focus, memory, and attention; increase pain threshold; and decrease rates of perceived exertion.
