It's not a real symbol. id created it as the Mark of the Slayer, similar to how 666 is the Mark of the Beast. It was carved into both the helmet and sarcophagus as a warning to all demonkind of their doom.

2022年5月16日 · In game its the symbol given to the doomslayer by the "devil" as a warning to all demons who approached his sarcophagus to leave it the fuck alone. In DOOM Eternal it was expanded upon as told to be given by the seraphim when the Doomguy turned into the Doomslayer giving him the powers we see in 2016 and Eternal.

2021年10月13日 · The marauders shotgun actually displays the symbol on the end of the barrels, but only because they reused the model and didn’t bother to edit that since you’re very unlikely to see it in normal gameplay. I only know it’s there because I’ve done texture mods for the marauders shotgun.

2021年3月20日 · Samur was the "Wretch" Seraphim mentioned in Doom 4's codex that gave Doomguy his Slayer powers through a chunk of Davoth's soul. Samur later manifested himself in 2016's universe by possessing Samuel Hayden's body through rapid terminal malignant cancer. That's also how Hayden was able to recover Doomguy from that deep tomb at the beginning of 4.

After Doomguy is put into the Divinity Machine and becomes the Slayer, the Sentinels begin associating this symbol - which they were not privy to the origin of - with him instead. That last point is the important bit - the symbol only eventually became Doomguy's because the Sentinel people did not know its original owner.

2021年3月21日 · Doomguy's appearance was altered by the Divinity Machine in subtle ways to match Davoth. This one feels like a stretch but I guess it could work. The gist of this is that the Slayer has very dark, almost black hair, and brown eyes. Same with Davoth. Yet as you can see in the classic Doomguy face sprites, he has light blonde hair and blue eyes.
