Dori was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk, who, along with his brother Nori and cousin Ori, [1] travelled with Bilbo Baggins and Thorin II as a member of Thorin's Company on the Quest for Erebor, to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.

Dori is probably a brother of the similarly-named Ori and Nori — all three also play the flute. Dori was often in the position to come to Bilbo’s physical aid during their adventures. When the party escapes the Great Goblin, Dori stops and helps Bilbo climb upon his back before running.

He was slain by the Watcher of the Water, the same tentacled creature that grabs Frondo just outside the Hollin Gate/Durin’s Door. Dori is based on the dwarf of the same name from Tolkien's novel, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. Unlike the book, Dori, Nori, and Ori's relationship is specified as half-siblings.
